How to tell military time chart

military time chart: How To Read and Convert 24-Hour Time

Military time, or 24-hour time, is used by the U.S. military, government agencies and many civilian industries worldwide to convey an unambiguous time of day. While the traditional 12-hour clock is parsed into two 12-hour cycles that begin at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) and end at 11:59 p.m., the military clock instead divides the day into three eight-hour cycles that begin at 1200 (12 p.m.) and conclude at 2359 (11:59 p.m.). Understanding this format makes it easier to communicate times accurately without ambiguity standouts such as "in the morning versus at night" or "a.m versus p.m..

Military time follows a unique pattern of hours from 0 – 23, which correspond to standard 12 hour intervals from 1am -12am (midnight). For example, 1 pm in military time would be written 1300 hrs or 13 :00 hrs and 8 pm in civilian time would be written as 2000 hrs or 20:00 hrs in military time. Each hour is divided into sixty minutes increments with the basic structure of 2130 hrs being said as - twenty one thirty hours - which is 9:30 pm in standard 12-hour clock format.

A quick guide to reading Military Time Chart is listed below

0000 hrs =12 am

0100 hrs =1 am

0200 hrs =2 am etc until…

1200 hrs =12pm

1300 hrs =1pm etc until …

2359hrs =11:59 pm

To convert standard hours into Military Time notation simply subtract 12 from any hour after Noon (12 pm) for example 1pm would be 1300hrs , 2pm 1400hrs , 3pm 1500hrs etc until … 11pm would be 2300hrs . Midnight is represented as 0000hrs . To convert Military Time notation back to Standard Time add 12 to any hour before Noon , so 1300hrs would be 1pm , 1400hrs 2pm , 1500hrs 3pm etc until….2300hres will unction as 11pm .
